Jörg Schüttler, Country Ambassador for Namibia of the Vision Peace Foundation Germany e.V., has traveled to Namibia in 2019 to ask for forgiveness between the Germans and the peoples of Namibia, among other things, on the Waterberg. With the official recognition of the genocide by the government of the Federal Republic of Germany, after more than 100 years, forgiveness and healing can finally take place for all involved. This work could be realized in the already existing vision of the City of Peace Namibia for the benefit of all people, animals, plants and Mother Earth.
Re-entering the old homeland in Namibia
In 2018, Schüttler traveled to Namibia for the first time in this life, and immediately felt a unique magic and connection to this wonderful country and the lovely people. In no other country was this kind of bond as palpable and as deep for him as it was here. “It was like coming home, like childhood memories of a place I had never seen in this life and yet so familiar and dear,” he explained with emotion.
Not every encounter was well-meaning, and it soon became clear to him that he had lived here before as a human being in another incarnation in the days of German Southwest Africa.

German Southwest Africa from 1884 – 1915
Under this name, today’s Namibia was a German colony from 1884 to 1915, just as large parts of Africa were colonies of many European states. The genocide committed by the German occupation forces against the Herero and Nama in 1904 was particularly significant – depending on the source, up to 80% of the Herero were exterminated. The decisive battle took place at the Waterberg. The events were so gruesome that it still brings tears to Schüttler’s eyes today. “Since then, the land, the animals and the people have been waiting for forgiveness and healing,” he added.

Forgiveness ritual on the Waterberg
One year later, in 2019, Schüttler and his partner got the chance to travel to Namibia for 5 months in the name of the Vision Peace Foundation Germany e.V., primarily to prepare the foundation of a City of Peace by David Wared. One of the first steps was to travel to the places of the former incidents at the Waterberg and in the Omaheke desert, in order to go and accomplish the necessary steps of forgiveness in several hours of healing work over a period of days. “As a German and as a former resident of Namibia, it was a need and a longing for me to relive the events of that time, to feel through them and to go into forgiveness with myself and with the people,” says Schüttler.

Official recognition of the 1904 incidents as genocide
With the official recognition of the events as genocide by the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany, after more than 100 years, forgiveness and thus healing for all involved may now finally take place. This acceptance of responsibility is to be held in the highest esteem and appreciation in its significance for worldwide peace. Many like Schüttler have contributed to this recognition. He is extremely grateful and happy about these events: “Because every action has its effect,” Schüttler affirms.

The relationship between Germany, the German Namibians and Namibia with its many peoples is good. There is a peaceful coexistence in the country and for a long time there have been various organizations and measures to further intensify the coexistence and peace also with the neighboring countries. Namibia is a well-developed and peaceful country, although there are still very large differences in income distribution. Now, in addition to the economic challenges, healing may take place between the people – healing for the Herero, Nama and also for the remaining Germans, because the hard struggle for their survival in a harsh, barren desert land is still etched on their faces.

City of Peace Namibia as a place of healing
With the founding of the City of Peace, abundance consciousness can enter the country. Abundance that can also lead to material prosperity – for all people, in Namibia, in Botswana and in South Africa. The City of Peace is a place where all people, regardless of their religion, skin color, culture, origin or attitude, can live together in peace and go into their personal healing. It is a place from which peace radiates out into the country and the world – a place that resembles Erdeden.

Namibia is probably the place where the first humans lived. What is therefore more obvious than to give peace to the world from here? What is more obvious than Germany supporting Namibia in this? What is more obvious than that Germany is the country from which peace and a new consciousness goes into the world? The vision of the City of Peace by David Wared, according to which there will be at least 100 Cities of Peace on earth, stands just as Schüttler stands for this vision in “his” country.
